In this episode of Agency Journey, Gray and Andrew discuss an area they and agency owners can focus on in 2018.
Where Agencies Need Help
We’ve had a behind-the-scenes look at dozens of agencies serving the agency community and working with their operations. One thing that we’ve seen in particular this year is the concept of communication.
Active communication between client and agency is obvious and makes sure there is clear communication within the company. You want not just to set expectations with clients but also within your team; otherwise, you’ll find points of friction.
In fact, this is something we’re planning on improving here in DoInbound in 2018 as well. It’s not just an agency issue but an issue that affects any business.
How to Improve Our Internal Communication
We want to continue improving and standardizing feedback and opening channels of communication within the team. This means having agendas explicitly set in each meeting to ensure progress is communicated, and everyone stays aligned on goals they’re pursuing and working towards.
Too often, we may want to say we’re a laid-back and open business, but that can actually cause issues with internal communication because there isn’t a clear understanding of what expectations are for team members and what you expect.
Without some structure, it can be hard for team members to speak up or get a clear grasp on what you’re looking for from them.
How to Improve Client Communication
One other piece is improving how you communicate with your clients. Once an agreement is aOnce infer what the work will there be the temptation to be or what will be delivered; communication may take a backdoor. This can damage the long-term health of the client and business relationship.
By building a strong system of communication and setting expectations between client and business, both parties benefit far more from the relationship.
