If you live in the agency space, you’ve probably become accustomed to dealing with chaos.

The to-do list grows constantly, issues arise incessantly, and you’ve had plenty of days where it feels like you jump from one fire to the next, endlessly trying to solve other people’s problems so you can get back to working on your own.

Yep, we’ve all been there.

In this week’s episode of Inbound Agency Journey, we’re bringing back Marisa Smith to share her story of starting an agency, implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), and the lessons she learned from her experience.

Marisa’s Background

Marisa started Whole Brain Group in 2002 with the dream of building a lifestyle of autonomy, flexibility, and control. As it turns out, that is easier dreamt than done 😜

She discovered EOS in 2012 through a friend and started self-implementing. 2 years later, Whole Brain Group hired a professional implementer. Fast forward another 2 years, and Marisa became a certified implementer and handed over the daily management of Whole Brain Group in 2016 so she could focus her time on helping other organizations benefit from EOS.

The 6 Key Components of Your Agency

If you’re not familiar with the EOS already, that’s okay — Marisa and I started with an explanation of the six key components of any business:

  1. Vision
  2. People
  3. Data
  4. Issues
  5. Process
  6. Traction

The EOS provides tools and training for all 6 functional areas, starting with the two highest-priority components — your agency’s vision and your people.

Common EOS Questions & Objections

Since we’ve had Marisa on the podcast previously to share her story of implementing EOS at Whole Brain Group, I wanted to focus on actionable tips and the common objections that I hear about EOS. We didn’t sugarcoat it, but dove right in with questions like:

  • Do I need to follow the EOS 100% or can I pick and choose components?
  • Should all departments work off the same scorecard?
  • How does EOS work for remote teams?

Give this episode a listen to hear Marisa’s answers and then let us know what questions, objections, or tips you have.
